My group and I chose Christopher Columbus, the discoverer of America.

Why did you choose this person?

Because it had a significant impact on history since it discovered the continent of America in 1492.

What qualities or characteristics does the person have?

Christopher Columbus was a determined and skilled navigator with a visionary spirit who discovered America thanks to his courage, tenacity, determination, navigational skills, persuasion and leadership abilities.

What motivated her/him to act?

Christopher Columbus was motivated primarily by the desire to find a new route to Asia and the riches he hoped to find in the process. He believed that by sailing west from Europe he would reach the East Indies (Asia), which would lead him to discover a new trade route that would enrich Spain. In addition to economic ambition, it was also influenced by factors such as the desire for notoriety and the spirit of exploration that characterized the Age of Discovery.

What were the challenges she/he faced, and how did she/he overcome them?

He faced several challenges during his exploratory science. He presented his lack of initial support, discontent of the crew, he had to deal with the distrust of the sailors, also the lack of land because in his first voyages Colon did not reach Asia directly as he expected, on the other hand the relations with the indigenous populations, Colon and his crew dealt with the newly discovered indigenous populations that there was chaos and conflict, supply problems due to lack of food, drinking water, among others, which was a danger to his survival and finally, the climatic concisions, they faced storms. and strong climates that are dangerous on the high seas.

How did her actions bring about positive change?

Christopher Columbus was a navigator, cartographer and explorer, recognized for having discovered America on October 12, 1492, and for having ushered in the first encounter between European and American civilizations, the conquests and colonization that changed the history of humanity.
It caused a great radical change in the conception of the cultural and economic sphere of the old world, opening the way for the decisive internationalization of trade and the economy.
